I love finding/receiving new remix material that, because of my own preconceived notions about the artist being reworked, I don't initially expect to enjoy. I mean when, before I even open the track up to check it out, my eyes are already beginning to squint. Freezepop's popularity, albeit limited, has always confounded me. I seriously just don't get it. When I first heard of them, I assumed it was part of some bad joke Microsoft/Xbox was trying to play on the consumer. My inbox has been extremely good to me this week, and it would be an understatement if I said that I was just "surprised" to see a new submission from Designer Drugs already. You can imagine how nearly-traumatic it was when I realized just who it was that they were working on. Don't fret, dear readers. Soundofair loves Designer Drugs, but I'm not afraid to say if I don't like something - (Just ask that Almamy...person. Watch; I'll probably get another elaborate, whiny cease-and-desist just for putting that out there.) I like this. I'll play this. Check this out - for me. This isn't even like the slight concession I made with that Faint track (made much better by LAZRtag); this is just straight-up good stuff. DD has yet to disappoint, and according to the submission, they'll be sending out yet another remix next week... I won't spoil the surprise, but I'll give you some hints. The original artist has two words in his name, and was remixed by Lifelike within the last year. The Lifelike remix is one of my favorite electro tracks of the summer... That very same track, apparently, is getting the Designer Drugs touch as I type this. Drooling, y'all.
Freezepop - Frontload (Designer Drugs Remix)
Lifelike was absolutely the official, unofficial Soundofair production-superhero of the Summer. Where did you go, bro?
