Villainy

Before we get down to the fun stuff, I've got an question for everybody that bothers passing through here. Does anybody have the ability to design a simple/more-aesthetically-pleasing layout for this blog? If so, could it be done inexpensively? Don't get me wrong, I love what I've managed to come up with here (har har), but I'd like to have something a bit shinier to work in. Despite those sweet ads (that I'm apparently unable to remove; could use some advice in this regard as well - THANKS, GOOGLE), I don't make any money off of this blog. More importantly, that's not at all its purpose. I'm willing to drop a little coin, but I have no idea how much this sort of thing typically costs, even for the humble little rework I have in mind. Thoughts?

Villains are one of the many groups I was disappointed to miss at SXSW2009. Seriously, we just missed them. Their take on Lykke Li's extensively remixed "Little Bit" is a fav.

I've had this Twelves rework of "Metropolis" for a minute, but since it was 'officially' sent over, I figured I'd go ahead and do a belated post. Cicada hail from the UK, and their first record was pretty on-point (I like it, a lot). I hadn't heard the original mix of "Metropolis" until this e-mail...and I've got to say, it's done little in the way of diminishing my expectations for this next release.

Had I mentioned that The Twelves got into some serious face-melting business last week? For serious, I'll post the set soon...

Received some Myspace love from Figure. Lots of great new stuff, but the previews from his upcoming release are what really stuck out for me. Add him and watch him; this next one is worth checking out!

Last, but not least, a little Bmore rework from Austin's own Prepmode. I'll admit, I'm a sucker for southern hip-hop, and it's hard to be impartial about remixes of this stuff. Prep's work here is fun, albeit a bit dry - this will definitely make it into my sets.
