from Twin Shadow's opening set at the Pains of Being Pure At Heart show last weekend. beware; this one is a little messy. couldn't get my levels right/didn't have time to clean up the audio/texas relays motorcycle revving/and so on. nothing a little itunes equalization can't fix - i can't do all the work. i've got a much better recording of The Books i'll get up here shortly.
MOG, thanks for not killin' me yet. i love our partnership too much! this site couldn't survive without ads for scottrade™ and toyota™ tires! in all seriousness, thanks again for throwing a great party at sxsw this year.

from the mogwee event sunday night. feels like things are kicking off way early this year.
update: i appreciate all the attention, but not the relinking without giving credit. as such, here's a temporary password to snuff out the coat-tailers.

hey everybody! somewhere between halloween and finals, i managed to squeak out an entry for the massive remix contest metric is holding through indaba. i'm still snowed-under with exams right now, but disco instructor 3 ought to be down the pipe by xmas...

here's round two of the disco instructor mixes. i went a little crazy with the editing this time around, so it took longer than expected to get this out. as always, more fun stuff is on the way - enjoy!

here's the first of a new run of semi-monthly mixtapes i plan on doing. the official format is pretty loose, but those who know me ought to have an idea of what to expect. i've also recently completed another rework, so expect to see that up here and on the myspace in the next week or so. for now, enjoy!

In the immortal, self-congratulatory words of MASE, "welcome back!"
I know it's been a while, everybody, but I'll spare you guys the excuses. October is my favorite (and, factually, the best) month of the year, so I thought this would be a good time to dip my toes back into the fold. I've got a mixed bag today; not really looking to say much as I'm still de-cobwebbing the old blog gland. First, a couple brand new ones from me...
Radiohead vs. In Flagranti - "My Iron Incarnation" (Ozton. Mash)
Basement Jaxx vs. Q-Tip - "Twerk & Stop" (Ozton. Mash)
Austin's Learning Secrets have been bringin' it pretty hard over the past few months. The party they threw with Annie Mac was great, and their gig with Holy Ghost this Friday looks to be even better. You get mad respect points in my book as a promoter/promotion company when you seem genuinely knowledgeable about the type of music you promote, and LS leader, Ian Orth's sets are just as much of a draw as his headliners.
Michael Jackson - "Get On The Floor" (Holy Ghost Edit)
Lastly, for a number of reasons, I'm sure nobody needs to be "turned on" to Neon Indian any longer. The new album is great, but I had to post this track up for it's blatant rip of "What a Fool Believes" by the Doobie Brothers. Now, as much as I'd like to, I really have a hard time believing this sample was cleared. Somebody please, enlighten me! I love Vega, and I'm really proud that both of these groups (constructively) come from my hometown - say it ain't so! (And don't give me any of that "fair use" garbage, Gregg Gillis - self-serving though it may be, they don't fall under fair use).
